Military Bowl presented by Northrop Grumman, Director of External Relations

Working in concert with the Director of Marketing and Communications to lead a college football bowl game's media and public relations strategy, while also overseeing several programs and events. Together, our work has resulted in significant gains in recognition and branding for the event, while also working with outside partners to help the game cement its place on the regional sporting calendar. Regularly work with local, regional and national media; sponsors; government officials; partners; conference executives and more. Develop messaging, draft talking points and provide media training for bowl officials. Also oversee the Military Bowl Parade, led by the Budweiser Clydesdales the past two years, and supervise the Medal of Honor program that sees the bowl host recipients of the nation's highest honor for valor in combat.

D.C. State Athletic Association, Public Relations Consultant

Responsible for establishing relationships and ensuring media coverage of a newly-created department within the Office of the State Superintendent of Education that oversees all high school athletics and organizes state championship events in Washington, D.C . Create news releases and prepare administrators for key interviews, while landing coverage in various outlets from daily newspapers to weekly/specialty newspaper and influential blogs. Created quarterly newsletter to reach all stakeholders and managed production from start to finish.

D.C. Touchdown Club presented by Capital Bank N.A., Assistant Director

Involved in all facets of planning and execution for club that serves as the clearinghouse for the game of football in the Washington area. After a lengthy layoff, the revived Touchdown Club includes an annual Awards Dinner that has featured Hall of Fame player/coach Mike Ditka, MVP quarterback Joe Theismann, Virginia Tech Coach Frank Beamer and Washington Redskins Pro Bowl linebacker London Fletcher. The Club has raised several thousand dollars for the Bill Phillips Memorial Fund, which is used to aid former athletes and wounded warriors in need of assistance.

 

AT&T Nation's Football Classic, Public Relations Consultant

Working with Director of Marketing and Communications for Events DC to promote an annual college football game between two Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Used network of contacts to get arrange multiple radio appearances and a very favorable column in The Washington Post. Ran gameday press operations.
